SAECULA

Test builds of a real-time strategy and city-building game set in the ancient world.

This is the launcher: a small program that downloads the newest test build of the game, keeps it up to date and starts it. The launcher is free for anyone to download. The game itself is only for people who have an invite code from the owner; the launcher asks for it the first time it starts.

How to start

  1. Download the launcher for your system and run it.
  2. Enter your invite code when asked. Do not have one? Ask the owner of the game; there is no way to get one here.
  3. Press Install, then Play. The launcher updates the game by itself from then on.
Windows shows a warning. The launcher is not signed with a paid certificate yet, so Windows SmartScreen says “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, then Run anyway. (The checksums below let you verify the file first.)
Linux: after downloading, make it executable: chmod +x AncientLauncher-linux-x64, then run ./AncientLauncher-linux-x64. It needs a desktop with X11 or Wayland (XWayland) and fontconfig, which every normal desktop has.
